VISAKHAPATNAM: Four persons were arrested and property worth Rs. 8 lakhs recovered from them by the Bheemunipatnam police on Tuesday.

Giving details to newsmen here, Superintendent of Police J.G. Murali said that two of the accused persons - T. Ramakrishna of West Godavari district and Srinu of Mangalagiri in Guntur district - had gained entry into the house of Padmavathi Naidu of Tagarapuvalasa with the objective of stealing gold ornaments. Though there were no valuables in the house, they allegedly stole household goods and they noticed the car keys on the dining table, which made their task of stealing the car easy. They allegedly sold the car to M. Ravi Kiran, a broker in the Transport Department at Eluru, for Rs.1 lakh. Ravi Kiran changed the number of the car and sold it to one Pali Prasad of Eluru for Rs. 2.5 lakhs, the SP said.

Again on October 29, Ramakrishna, along with P. Prasad of Vellanki and N. Peddiraju of Anandapuram, allegedly gained entry into the house of Durga Rama Rao of Tagarapuvalasa and stole his car by stealing the keys from the verandah. On the advice of Ravi Kiran, they sold it to one Bhanumurthy for Rs. 73,000. Mr. Murali said that the two cars, a motorcycle, a handy cam, two digital cameras, two cell phones, household articles and a dagger were recovered from the accused persons.

The arrests were made by Bheemunipatnam SI K.S.N.V. Prasad under the supervision of CI Deva Prasad.

The fifth accused, Srinu of Managalagiri, is yet to be arrested.
