Prohibitory orders clamped on district

Deputy Chief Minister to visit Mulky today


  • Orders do not apply to Government programmes
  • Curfew on Mulky town from Wednesday

    MANGALORE: The Additional District Magistrate A.G. Bhat has clamped prohibitory orders (Section 144) on Dakshina Kannada district from midnight on December 5, Tuesday, to midnight on December 7, Thursday.

    This has been done to maintain law and order in the district in view of violent incidents that took place at Mulky town on Friday last and violent incidents reported in Mangalore taluk in October, an official release said.

    The prohibitory orders will not apply to Government programmes and other duties of the Government.

    Mr. Bhat has also imposed a curfew on Mulky town from 7 p.m. on December 6, Wednesday, to 7 a.m. on December 7, Thursday.

    Meanwhile, police said the curfew was relaxed in the town from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday. No untoward incidents took place during that period. Curfew was reinforced from 7 p.m. on Tuesday to 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

    The Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa will arrive here on December 6 and visit Mulky.
