Sankararaman murder case accused attacked

CHENNAI
: Meenakshi Sundaram, one of the accused in the Sankararaman murder case, was assaulted by six unknown assailants near his residence in MGR Nagar, KK Nagar, here on Tuesday evening.
Police said he was rushed to the Government General Hospital immediately.
Mr. Sundaram had sustained injuries on his arm and cheek and was admitted to the operation theatre. He had stepped out of the house in the evening for a snack when he was attacked, said members of his family who did not see the attack. None of the wounds appeared life threatening and he would be moved to the intensive care unit tomorrow, they said. Police said the issue of providing security to Mr. Sundaram would be considered after he was discharged. He is reported to have told police that the assailants were not known to him but that he would be able to identify them on sight.
