NEW DELHI: A general alert has been sounded across the Capital in view of the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition on Wednesday. Police officers and personnel have been directed to keep vigil on activities at sensitive places. Special measures have been taken in Central Delhi. While the residents have been requested to maintain calm, the police have held meetings with various community leaders. The police have conducted checks at guesthouses and hotels. A close watch has also been kept on those found indulging in mischief in the past. Extra force would be deployed at major market places and important installations. "CCTVs installed at such places would help us keep constant surveillance on the activities there," said a police officer on Tuesday, adding that property and car dealers had been asked to inform the police about any suspicious person or activity.
