PANAJI: The Goa Barge Owners Association (GBOA), a body representing the owners of around 175 barges navigating the State's inland waterways, has threatened to stop the operation of barges from Thursday if the authorities of the Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) stop the prevailing arrangement to provide diesel and fresh water at the existing dispensing points. Bhupendra Singh, GBOA executive committee member told The Hindu that negotiations were on with the authorities of the MPT as well as the State Government to resolve the various grievances put forward by the association.
