Dhaka: After a brief lull, poll-bound Bangladesh's volatile political situation turned again towards uncertainty, with the Opposition warning of fresh protests by up to 20 lakh people if the pledges by the caretaker Government for electoral reforms were not fulfilled by Saturday. After several hours of meeting between leaders of former Premier Sheikh Hasina's Awami League and the 14-party alliance headed by it on Tuesday night, it was announced that unless the Government fulfilled the promises, they would stage indefinite sit-ins around the presidential palace and Election Commission by bringing in ``20 lakh people'' from across Bangladesh ``soon''. Hundreds of activists of the 14-party alliance rallied in Dhaka on Wednesday, some trying to march towards the Election Commission, but were stopped by police. PTI
