Surya Pavan puts out Sai Teja

HYDERABAD : Surya Pavan defeated P. Sai Teja 7-5, 6-4 in the boys' under-14 singles quarterfinals of the Brij All India sub-juniors tennis tournament at the SAAP Tennis Complex here on Wednesday.

The results: Boys: Under-14 (quarterfinals): Chetan Pandit bt Ronit Bhist 7-6(5), 7-6 (3); Rohit Bhist bt K. Pradeep Reddy 6-3, 6-2; Surya Pavan bt P. Sai Teja 7-5, 6-4; Tushal Thawani bt J. Mohit Mayur 6-0, 3-6, 6-4.

Doubles: Semifinals: Tushal Thawani & Mohit Mayur bt Sai Teja & P. Prabhav 8-4; Surya Pavan & Surya Sirasala bt Ronit Bhist & Rohit Bhist 8-6. Under-12: Quarterfinals: Rohan Bhatia bt Rishab Agarwal 8-4; T. Nehal bt Tarun Nath 8-7(2).

S.M. Abdullah bt Ronak Jhawar 8-5; Rishi Shah bt Siddarth Deka 8-3.

Bhoopal bowls well

A fine spell of six for 20 by Bhoopal Reddy (six for 20) helped ML Jaisimha XI record an eight-wicket win against Sunshine in the semifinals of the C-Division one-day (knock-out) tournament here.

The scores: C-Division (one-day) knock-out: Semifinals: Sunshine 102 (Tarun 40, Bhoopal Reddy six for 20) lost to ML Jaisimha XI 103 for two (Sridhar 55).

CK Blues 162 lost to Chums XI 166 for two (Samrat 93).

D-Division (one-day) knock-out: Royal CC 137 lost to Satyam Colts 138 for three (M.I. Dinesh 61, K. Vijay Kumar 44 not out).

AP blanks Rajasthan

Andhra Pradesh defeated Rajasthan 3-0 in men's team event of the All-India BSNL badminton tournament at the Fateh Maidan on Wednesday.

The results: Men: Kerala bt UP (West) 3-0; UP (East) bt Tamil Nadu 3-2; Assam bt Jharkhand 3-0; Gujarat bt Punjab 3-1; AP bt Rajasthan 3-0; Uttaranchal bt MTNL, Delhi, 3-2. Women: Punjab bt North-East 2-0; AP bt MTNL, Delhi, 2-0; TN bt Rajasthan 2-0; Maharashtra bt Gujarat 2-1.
