SOUL-STIRRING: Sufi music festival `Ruhaniyat'.
NEW DELHI: Music lovers in the Capital are in for a treat as Banyan Tree Events brings its unique "Ruhaniyat: The Sufi and Mystic Music Festival" at the Garden Of Five Senses here this Sunday. Over the years "Ruhaniyat: The Sufi and Mystic Music Festival" has evolved into one of the most prestigious and much-awaited festivals for music lovers across the country. Last year it was extended to three more cities and this time it is the biggest All-India Sufi and Mystic Music Festival ever to be held in the six cities of Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Pune from November 2006 to February 2007. After receiving an overwhelming response in Mumbai on November 25 and 26 that featured mystics from across India and Iran, the organisers are all set to showcase Sufi qawwals, mystic musicians, folk musicians, "bauls'' and Sufi kalam singers from across the country in Delhi. The concept of Ruhaniyat is the brainchild of Mahesh Babu, Director of Banyan Tree Events, a premier cultural organisation known for its offbeat and creative concepts and presentation of various traditional and rare Indian performing arts across the country. What makes Ruhaniyat such a sought after event is the fact that the messages of Sufi saints and mystics seem to be the need of the hour for they knew the secret of blissful existence amidst all kinds of turmoil. Naturally their works abounding in wisdom and unconditional love not only act as a soothing balm but are also a timely reminder of the human capacity to evolve and give love. As always, the messages of Sufi saints and mystics will be communicated in natural, vibrant ambience by immensely talented participants through their unique, powerful music.
