COMING GOOD: Ronaldinho was Barcelona's go-to man against Werder Bremen, scoring one and setting up the other goal.
London: Defending champion FC Barcelona and AS Roma have captured places in the second round of the Champions League by winning their final group games. Ronaldinho's low free kick and Eidur Gudjohnsen's tap-in helped Barcelona beat Werder Bremen 2-0 on Tuesday to finish second in Group A behind Chelsea, which finished beat Levski Sofia 2-0. ``The team made a huge effort tonight to get the lead,'' Barcelona manager Frank Rijkaard said. ``We played attractive football. It's not always easy, but we played well, got the result and are into the next round.'' Bremen's consolation for finishing third means a place in the UEFA Cup. Christian Panucci scored the lone goal in Roma's 1-0 win over Valencia, putting the Italian team in second place in Group D behind the Spanish club, which had already qualified. Shakhtar Donetsk finished third and will play in the UEFA Cup after a 1-1 draw at Olympiakos. In a meeting of two clubs which had already qualified from Group B, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan drew 1-1. That means four-time champion Bayern wins the group. The results: Barcelona 2 (Ronaldinho 13, Gudjohnsen 19) bt Werder Bremen 0; Bayern Munich 1 (Makaay 62) drew with Inter Milan 1 (Vieira 90); Chelsea 2 (Shevchenko 27, Wright-Phillips 83) bt Levski Sofia 0; Galatasaray 3 (Ates 24, Buruk 28, Ilic 79) bt Liverpool 2 (Fowler 22, Fowler 90); Olympiacos 1 (Castillo 54) drew with Shakhtar Donetsk 1 (Matuzalem 27); PSV Eindhoven 1 (Alex 87) lost to Bordeaux 3 (Faubert 7, Dalmat 25, Darcheville 36); Sporting Lisbon 1 (Bueno 31) lost to Spartak Moscow 3 (Pavluchenko 8, Kalinichenko 16, Boyarintsev 89).
