VIJAYAWADA : Vice-president of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) urban unit Katragadda Nagamalleswara Rao alias Babu was shifted to Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad from the district prison here on Wednesday. Babu, an accused in the case of attack on Congress sympathiser Vangaveeti Santan Kumar, was in remand since October 22. He complained of health problem on Monday and sought permission from the court to undergo treatment in the NIMS. Third additional chief metropolitan magistrate K. Chidananda granted the permission. Babu was sent to Hyderabad in a special vehicle.
Pharmacist killed
A pharmacist died in a road accident at Singhnagar flyover on Wednesday. The Satyanarayanapuram police said the accident occurred around 11.30 a.m. when B. Ramarkrishna Raju of Singh Nagar was on his way to Machavaram on amotorcycle.
Raju fell from the motorcycle and sustained severe injuries. Raju's friend Suresh, the pillion rider, too sustained injuries.
They were sent to Government General Hospital for treatment, where Raju succumbed to his injuries.
The condition of Suresh is said to be stable. A case was registered.
