BANGALORE: The State Government has urged the Karnataka High Court to revoke the bail granted by the District and Sessions Court, Bagalkot, to Aslam Baba alias Blade Baba, a faith healer. The Sessions Court had set aside an order of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Bagalkot, revoking the bail of Baba as he had violated one of the conditions. Aggrieved by this, the State had appealed against the order. The State, seeking revoking of bail, contended that Baba was not a registered medical practitioner or a doctor. Yet he had been practising medicine and a case was registered against him. Baba was subsequently produced before the Additional Judicial Magistrate (AJM), Bagalkot. The AJM granted bail to Baba on condition that he did not practise medicine or the alternative medical system of spiritual healing. When Baba was found to have violated this condition, the State moved an application before the CJM seeking revocation of the bail. Baba's bail was revoked and he had appealed against it in the Sessions Court. Justice Mohan Shantangouder on Tuesday adjourned further hearing on the case after ordering issue of notice.
