Panel to study Capital's problems

NEW DELHI: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Ram Babu Sharma has constituted a seven-member committee under the chairmanship of former Union Minister Jagdish Tytler to make a detailed study about various problems plaguing the Capital.

The study will highlight the problems afflicting the Capital due to the sealing and demolition drive, the steep conversion charges for commercial areas imposed on the traders, besides conversion charges for unauthorised constructions in flats and regularisation of around 1,500 unauthorised colonies.

New committee constituted

NEW DELHI: Shiromani Akali Dal Longowal national president Prem Singh Chandumajra has appointed new working committee members for the Delhi unit of the party.

The members include Jathedar Balwinder Singh Talwandi (president), Sardar Gurcharan Singh Arora (senior vice-president), Sardar Maninder Singh Dhir (vice-president) and Jagmail Singh Bhathuan (general secretary).

Campaign for right to life, dignity

NEW DELHI: Delhi Shramik Sangathan has launched a campaign for "Right to Life with Dignity" that seeks to establish the identity and dignity of these categories of people.

As part of the campaign, an eight-day cycle rally has been planned from Human Rights Day on December 10. Around 50 youth would pedal from Vikaspuri in West Delhi to various slums of the city. The rally would also demand that the public participation in preparation of Master Plan for Delhi-2021 be enhanced.

Focus on religion

NEW DELHI: A seminar on "Religions and Interfaith Interaction in Contemporary World" was held at Russian Centre of Science and Culture here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Russian Orthodox Church leader, His Eminence Kirill, said it was absolutely essential to have intensive dialogue between different religions with common ethical approach. Drawing a parallel on the existence of different religions in India and Russia, he said Buddhism, Islam and Christianity were equally popular in both the countries.
