Policeman run over by train
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
A physically challenged policeman was run over by a train while he was crossing the tracks near Binny Mills in the early hours of Wednesday.
The dead was identified as Siddappa (49), a head constable at City Armed Reserve (Headquarters) on Mysore Road. He left his house around 5 a.m. after informing his wife that he would go to his sister's house in Kamalanagar.
The police said Siddappa was a diabetic and one of his legs had been amputated. He had been fitted with an artificial limb. The police suspect that Siddappa's artificial limb got detached while he tried to cross the tracks in a hurry on noticing the fast approaching train.
Siddappa, a native of Channapatna in Bangalore Rural district, was a resident of the CAR Police Quarters here.
