Gutted in fire
Fourteen fire tenders were rushed to the spot after the fire department received a call around 1 p.m., fire brigade officials said. Fire fighters took over two hours to put out the blaze.
Held for robbery cases
According to the police, one of the accused, Sanjay, is reportedly a drug addict and has been involved in seven cases of theft, robbery and Arms Act. A camera and mobile phone have been reportedly recovered from their possession.
Auto lifters nabbed
Acting on a tip-off, a trap was laid near Lado Sarai in Saket and two men in a motorcycle were intercepted. On seeing the police, the duo allegedly tried to flee but was overpowered.
Gang busted
While investigating some cases of truck theft in Badarpur and Mehruali, the police found that some criminals, hailing from Mewat and Bangladesh, were involved. The inputs were further developed and four persons -- Asgar, Arshad, Haleem and Mohammad Alam -- were arrested near Rajiv Park in Badarpur on Wednesday. The police claimed to have solved five cases of vehicle theft and burglaries with the arrest. Efforts are on to nab the leader of the gang, Zakir alias Mota.
`Robbers' arrested
The accused, identified as Vijay, Rajkumar, Ram Niwas, Naim Khan, Kanhaiya and Mohammad Hanif Abbas, were reportedly involved in robbery cases at Badarpur, Defence Colony, Sarita Vihar and Sriniwaspuri. They also allegedly committed thefts along the railway line near Mathura Road as they were well conversant with the topography of the area.
Apology sought
The Association claimed that it had been peacefully lodging its protest here by demonstrating during lunch hour since November 27 without affecting the normal working of the office. It has demanded an apology from the official.
