Last grade employees of the criminal court on the Vanchiyoor Court Complex are organising themselves to press their rights. They have formed an association to demand `timely promotion' and better `work environment.' According to Sajith Singh, president of the association, even after 32 years of service a last grade employee of the criminal court has to retire as a peon. There is also lack of facilities for employees engaged in 24-hour duty. As a result, 99 per cent of the candidates who enrol here switch departments in search of better prospects, he said. The 68-member strong association has now submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, Home Minister and the Law Minister.
