BELLARY: The three-day annual fair of the famous and ancient Madalgatti Anjneya will begin at Madalgatti village near Huvina Hadagali town in Bellary district from Friday. The Hanuman shrine is located on the banks of the Tungabhadra. The annual fair will be attended by people from all over the district and from neighbouring districts. The temple car will be pulled on Saturday and "tottilu seva" (cradle ceremony) will be held on the concluding day, Sunday. Attendance to the fair has been on the rise ever since a bridge between Mundargi and Madalgatta has been constructed. Prior to that, devotees from Hubli-Dharwad, Gadag, Koppal, situated on the other side of the river, used to cross the river in country boats. Over the years, a lot of development has taken place to provide more facilities to pilgrims and devotees visiting the temple. The ancient temple is being renovated with granite and marble with the financial assistance extended by B. Sriramulu, Minister for Tourism and Textiles. B.T. Phaniraj of the temple committee told The Hindu that as many as 12 works were underway.
