This Day That Age
The Pakistan Government has been informed that the Government of India would not sell the Jinnah house in Bombay, but would acquire it themselves. Prime Minister Nehru gave this information in the Rajya Sabha on December 6 when asked what decision had been taken about the disposal of the house after the Government of Pakistan had expressed a desire to purchase it. In his written reply to Mr. N.S. Chauhan, Mr. Nehru said that at present the Jinnah house formed part of the (displaced persons') compensation pool. Its evaluation had been carried out and it was expected that the transfer of the house to the Government of India would be effected shortly.
