Drawing from mythology

A leading British-based oil exploration and development company in the private sector has found a new method to appease the local people.

The new-found oil sites in Rajasthan and Gujarat in the west coast and in the Krishna Godavari basin in Andhra Pradesh are named after Hindu goddesses, Saraswathi, Lakshmi, Bhuvanaswari, Kameswari, Rageswari, etc.

"There are enough number of Hindu deities and let our oil sites proliferate " is how a senior director of Cairn India put it when talking to scribes here.

The company has started eyeing the Kerala and Tamil Nadu coast also for oil exploration.
