Going beyond the traditional

Innovation in performing arts helps rekindle the interest of the masses in them. Kalamandalam Radhika, an exponent of Mohiniyattam, is fully aware of this fact.

She is keen on innovations in the age-old performing art.

The dancer will perform at the Ernakulam Fine Arts Hall on December 12. She promises that the performance will be a visual delight. It will be a cultural voyage starting from the conventional to the contemporary and beyond, she says. The theme is drawn from the works of Sankaracharya, Chavara Achan, Kamala Suraiyya and so on. A Mohiniyattam performances in 3-dimensional format and in German are among the experiments that the Bangalore-based dancer has already done.
