Vani Doraisamy
CHENNAI:
For dog lovers in the city, serendipity is just around the corner with Chennai getting ready to host some of the rarest breeds at the first ever international dog show hosted by The Kennel Club of India.
On December 8, 9 and 10, rare canine breeds from countries such as Germany, Brazil, U.S. and Thailand will vie for the `Best of Show' crown at the KCI's First and Second FCI International Dog Show being held along with the Madras Canine Club's 74th and 75th Championship Dog Show.
"We have received over 700 entries and more than fifty per cent are very rare breeds which would perhaps never have been seen in India till now," says C.V. Sudarsan, founder secretary, Madras Canine Club.
While Commissioner of Police, Letika Saran, will be the chief guest for the December 8 show, State Information Minister Parithi Ilamvazhuthi will be chief guest on December 10. Canine contestants will be judged by a select panel of international judges. The shows will be held at the University Union Grounds, Chetpet. For more details, call 26260693, 26214911 or 2621 3661.
