Hassan: Gandhian and Karnataka Unification Award winner Harnahalli Ramaswamy expressed concern at deteriorating values and added that small problem were allowed to become complicated. He said terrorism and corruption were two major enemies of the country. He was replying to felicitations given to him at Guru Siddarameswara Community Hall at Arsikere, 45 km from Hassan, on Wednesday. Basava Samithi and Citizen Forum jointly organised the "Abhinandana" programme. Mr. Ramaswamy felt the increase corruption in administration and lack of patriotism was the reason for all problems. Mr. Ramaswamy, who heads the Administrative Reforms Committee, said Karnataka was a model in culture, tradition, heritage and language and if such atmosphere exist in all States, then the dream for "Bhavya Bharatha" would come true.
First meeting
He recalled the role of Arsikere in Karnataka's unification and said the first meeting for the unification movement was held in Arsikere in 1948. Basavaraju, MLA, presided over the function.
