Tracing the adventures of famous detective Sherlock Holmes is the History Channel through its exciting new series "The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes" that will be premiered on December 12. Viewers will get a chance to catch a glimpse of Jeremy Brett's flamboyantly brilliant interpretation of Sherlock Holmes in the classic series. Brett will solve some of the most gripping mysteries of the Victorian era. A faithful adaptation of the original stories, "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" brings alive mysteries such as "A Solitary Cyclist", "The Speckled Band" and "The Naval Treaty" among others that not only enjoy worldwide recognition but also continue to fascinate and mesmerise a generation of readers across the globe. Through his power-packed performance Brett successfully captures the true essence of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's favourite character Sherlock Holmes. Commenting on the new series, Joy Bhattacharya, Senior Vice-President (Programming) of the History Channel, says: "Sherlock Holmes has enjoyed universal appeal. `The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes' is one of the most successful historically set drama series and we feel privileged to air this classic on our channel. Such programmes are in keeping with our strategy of broad-basing the channel to widen its appeal for all viewers." Through factual and interesting programming the History Channel brings history to life. It provides a platform where people can experience history personally and connect their own lives to the past. - Madhur Tankha
