Musharraf has no right to decide: JKLF

Luv Puri`

Jammu : Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Amanullah Khan has said Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf had no right to decide about the future of Kashmir, as the people were the principle party to the dispute.

Mr. Khan was reacting to Gen. Musharraf's observation that complete independence to Jammu and Kashmir was not acceptable.

No right to impose views

Talking to The Hindu , Mr. Khan said India and Pakistan had no right to impose their views on the future of Kashmirs.

The right to decide was with the people. Even Pakistanis had not given the General the right to take Islamabad's hands off Kashmir on some ambiguous, confusing, impracticable and dangerous condition.

Permanent solution

The only permanent solution to the Kashmir issue was to reunite the divided Jammu Kashmir State in several peaceful phases, and, after withdrawal of all external armed forces and civilian personnel, establish an independent State with a federal system of governance having friendly relations India and Pakistan.

Fifteen years later, the people could decide through a referendum whether it could perpetuate its independence or become part of India or Pakistan.
