`Make DNA report public'

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Congress demanded that the DNA report on the skeletal remains of 20 killed in Gujarat riots be made public and their remains given a decent burial. The killing took place in Panderwada, Gujarat.

The Gujarat High Court on Wednesday gave copies of the report to the relatives.

Teesta Setalvad of the Citizens for Justice and Peace said the report, prepared by an independent lab, had stated that six of the remains matched their relatives' samples. But the Gujarat police said one body was handed over to the relatives and the rest buried. The CBI had submitted the report to the High Court.

While the Rajya Sabha was adjourned briefly over the issue, with the Chair not giving the Congress members permission to speak, in the Lok Sabha Madhusudan Mistry's (Congress) demand was supported by the Left and the Rashtriya Janata Dal.
