TRS chief's war cry to Congress leaders

K.M. Dayashankar

Asks Congress to introduce Bill on statehood in Parliament

  • `Do not test patience of Telangana people'
  • Thanks people for giving him record majority

KARIMNAGAR: TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday asked the Congress to introduce the Bill on the formation of Telangana in Parliament as promised in the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) of the UPA Government.

"Do not test the patience of Telangana people on the statehood issue," he remarked and warned that "Telangana Congress leaders will not get deposits in the coming elections." He wanted Telangana Congress leaders to ask the party high command for the introduction of the Bill.

Addressing a mammoth public meeting after participating in a victory procession from SRR College to Tower Circle here, he said, "This election is not on sentiment alone. It is the popular demand of people of the region for the formation of separate Telangana."

Thanking people for giving him a record majority and setting a new direction for Telangana movement, he said that they would rededicate themselves to the movement.

Launching a scathing attack on the Congress for saying that his party had won because of the Congress in the 2004 elections, he said that his re-election without any party support was a fitting lesson to the Congress.

He suggested to Telangana TDP leaders to change their stand and strive for the formation of Telangana lest they get isolated.

    House in Karimnagar

He vowed to strive for the development of north Telangana districts by residing in Karimnagar.

Announcing that he was constructing a house on the outskirts of the town, he said he would camp in the town for at least 10 to 15 days a month to address people's grievances. He reiterated that he would pressure the Government to ensure sanctioning of the drinking water scheme and railway line from Monarabad to Karimnagar via Vemulawada.

He reiterated that the TRS was not politicising Telangana issue. "We want our own share of water, jobs and power supply and not politics," he remarked amid slogans of `Jai Telangana.'
