WWIL to brand digital cable service

Staff Correspondent

MUMBAI: Wire & Wireless India Ltd. (WWIL), formerly SitiCable, the cable TV arm of the Zee Group, has announced that it will brand its digital cable service, `GalaxZee.'

With the Conditional Access System (CAS) being mandated for implementation in the notified areas of Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata from January 1, 2007, WWIL is rolling out a campaign targeted at customers and distributors.

WWIL has come about following the division of Zee Telefilms into Zee TV, Zee News, Dish TV and WWIL. "While Dish TV will continue to offer DTH services, WWIL will offer cable TV and later Triple play when data and voice are permitted,'' Jagjit Singh Kohli, CEO, WWIL, said, while addressing the media here on Thursday.

The company will offer wireless cable TV services, using Headend in the Sky (HITS) technology wherein the signal will be beamed through satellite.

However, a cable will be required within a building or an apartment complex.
