Staff Reporter

The road was dug up three weeks ago

  • Pipeline intended for supply of drinking water to the old city
  • It will take one more week to set things right, says Mayor

WHAT ROAD?: The road dug up by the Eluru Municipal Corporation for laying water pipelines.

ELURU : It's literally the proverbial walk on a tightrope for the users of the road at Kotadibba Centre in the city, thanks to the Eluru Municipal Corporation's digging for laying drinking water pipelines. The ordeal is on for the last three weeks.

    Nightmarish experience

With the debris and pipelines strewn all along the stretch from Gandhi Memorial Hall to the Mandal Revenue Office, venturing on it turns out to be a nightmarish experience for the users.

A hub of Government offices and educational institutes, including the Eluru Mandal Revenue Office, Government Junior College, Kasturba Municipal High School, Sub Jail and I-Town police station are located in the vicinity.

    Slow progress

The people visiting Government offices and students find it difficult to tread on the road. According to the city Mayor Kare Babu Rao, it will take one more week for the road to get back to its original position.

    Completion

The works relating to the laying of water pipelines from the new filtered plant to the reservoir at Kotadibba Centre is expected to be complete in a week.

By then, the problem would be solved, he added.

The Mayor said that the pipeline was intended for supply of drinking water to the old city.
