Shetty, Jha keep lead

NEW DELHI: Draws on the top three boards kept International Masters Rahul Shetty and Sriram Jha in the lead at 8.5 points after the 10th and penultimate round of the Subroto Mukherjee memorial international rating chess tournament at Subroto Park here on Thursday.

Shetty and Jha were half a point ahead of Prakash Ram, Sriram Sarja, Santosh Sinha and Nassir Wajih.

The results (10th round): Prakash Ram (8) drew with Sriram Jha (8.5); Sriram Sarja (8) drew with Rahul Shetty (8.5); P. Konguvel (7.5) drew with N. Sudhakar Babu (7.5).

Arghyadip Das (7) lost to Santosh Sinha (8); Gurpreet Pal Singh (6.5) lost to Nassir Wajih (8); Mohd. Irshad (6.5) lost to Himanshu Sharma (7.5); Krishan Soni (7) drew with R. Balasubramanium (7).

Santu Mondal (7) drew with Rahul Sangma (7); Harish Sharma (7.5) bt Vinoth Kumar (6.5); G.B. Joshi (7.5) bt Gajendra Singh (6.5); Vishnu Prasanna (7.5) bt Kanti Lal Dave (6.5).

Prantik Roy (6.5) lost to Vipul Subhashi (7.5); Deepak Katiyar (6) lost to Deepan Chakkravarthy (7); Abid Ali (7) bt D.K. Chopra (6); Srivastava (6) lost to Gagan Chitkara (7); Raj Kumar Chauhan (7) bt K. V. Ramani (6).

Vivek Bharti (7) bt S.K. Sharma (6); Navneet Sharma (7) bt Mithilesh Srivastava (6); Rakesh Ranjan (7) bt Ashutosh Kumar (6); Jatinder Kapoor (6.5) drew with Abhash Kumar (6.5). Gusain Himal (7) bt Sudhir Sinha (5.5).
