JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday conducted raids at 35 places across the State and claimed to have recovered cash and movable and immovable properties worth crores of rupees from five officers accused of having assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. The Director-General of the Bureau, P.K. Tiwari, told reporters here that raids by different teams headed by 10 Additional Superintendents of Police were continuing till late in the evening at Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Bhilwara, Rajsamand, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Sriganganagar and Jodhpur.
The officers whose premises were raided were Satyanarain Lathi, Additional District Magistrate, Udaipur; Pal Singh, Assistant Commissioner, Colonisation Department, Bikaner; H.P. Kachhawa, Managing Director, Urban Cooperative Bank, Ajmer; Phool Mohammed, Deputy Superintendent of Police, CID (Crime Branch), Jaipur; and Deendayal
Mr. Tiwari said the properties recovered from these officers included big houses and farm houses, showrooms, mines, agricultural land, cars, jeeps, tractors and bonds of investments in various banks and financial institutions. Cash totalling Rs.2.62 lakhs was allegedly seized from Mr. Lathi's residence.
The Director-General said the Bureau had planned and conducted raids after receiving a number of complaints against the officers.
He said cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act had been registered against all the accused.
