Three of a family found dead

Staff Reporter

KOTTAYAM: Three members of a family were found dead at their house at Karukachal on Thursday morning. The dead have been identified as Kalarickal Thazheveettil Sasidharan Nair, 60, his wife and retired teacher Padmakumari, 56, and their son Girish, 21.

According to the police, the bodies were found when their neighbour forced-open the door of the house in the morning after the newspaper vendor told him that Wednesday's papers were still lying at the door.

The police said Girish was mentally challenged and the couple had been in a financial crisis.

Another son, who was pursuing his academics, was not present at the house when the incident occurred. The police found a bottle which apparently contained poison consumed by the family. The police have registered a case and investigation is on.
