HYDERABAD: There was music, dance and drama. The occasion was the 90th anniversary celebrations of the Young Men's Christian Association, Secunderabad branch of Greater Hyderabad on Thursday. Joining the revelry was Governor Rameshwar Thakur, who unveiled the plaque to commemorate the YMCA's 90 years of service. Amidst chants of thanksgiving to God, J. Alexander, President, National Council of YMCAs of India, N. Christ Das, President, YMCA Hyderabad and Christine Lazarus, MLA, remembered the achievements of the institution established in 1916. Mr. Alexander said the beauty of the institution lay in the fact that you need not be young men or a Christian to be a member of YMCA.
`Great institution'
The Governor congratulated the institution for catering to the intellectual, social and recreational needs of the young. YMCA has been a great institution and has moulded youth into disciplined, creative and multi-faceted human beings, he said. The celebrations culminated in prayers, carols, instrumental music and a short Nativity scene by students of Bhega School.
