HYDERABAD: A crack team has been formed by the Income Tax Department to analyse information on real estate deals with special focus on the capital city and surrounding areas, D.V. Dharmik, Chief Commissioner, Hyderabad - I, said. At a press conference on Thursday, he said the department had been gathering information from Sub-Registrar offices, Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad and other offices in adjoining Ranga Reddy district for three months.
Course of action
After analysis, the team would recommend its course of action. Most searches and seizures in the past three months were in the real estate sector, he added. On the department's performance, Mr. Dharmik said that as on November 30, Andhra Pradesh region had collected Rs. 4,610.28 crores against Rs. 3,086.18 crores during the same period last year, representing an increase of 49 per cent.
On target
This compared favourably with the all-India increase of 41.50 per cent, he said, expressing confidence that the region would reach the Rs. 9,000-crore mark by the end of the fiscal, against a target of Rs. 8,479 crores. He said the department had launched a new scheme for reporting Permanent Account Number (PAN) cards and reiterated his appeal to people having more than one card to report it either on telephone no. 0124-2438000 or email to pan@incometaxindia.gov.in or write to P.O. Duplication
He said a survey the State had revealed that there were 1,32,336 PAN cards for 65,000 individuals. While de-duplication process was completed in 15,600 cases, 8,300 were confirmed by the officials concerned and in 3,000 cases, the cards were deleted, he said. He announced that December 15 was the last date for paying advance taxes.
