CHENNAI: In keeping with the spirit of the season, Makkal TV is sprucing up its channel with some song and dance.

The `Isaithingal & Naattiya Thiruvizha' are being telecast on the channel to commemorate Chennai's music festival.

Isaithingal (meaning `month of music') will contain various aspects of native music or `thamizhisai', including lyrics written by Bharathiyar and Barathidasan, set to interesting scores.

Isaithingal will echo off Makkal TV channel from 6.30 a.m. The programme will be telecast on for half-an-hour every week till December 22.

According to Makkal TV employees, the programme is meant to be a "culture-conscious initiative to revive tasteful, thought-provoking classics."

The dance part of the programme, `Nattiya Thiruvizha', is scheduded for weekday evenings.

`Nattiya Thiruvizha' will be telecast between 5.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. during the same period.

The programme will feature leading personalities in the field, and thematic choreography and dramatic dance sequences are in store for art lovers.

Remember to switch on your television sets at the right time to bring a sabha right into your living room.
