Man held on cheating charge

HYDERABAD: The city police on Thursday arrested a person for allegedly cheating gullible women on the pretext of curing diabetes and blood pressure.

Saleem Ahmed (60) of Kishanbagh used to introduce himself as a neighbour of the victims' relatives living abroad who had come to hand them over a parcel. He would inquire about their health and offer a cure. He would ask a bowl filled with water and turmeric to prepare medicine, the police said. He would later request women to remove their gold jewellery to mix them with turmeric water and flee with the jewellery by diverting their attention.
