Guntur
Staff Reporter
GUNTUR : Guntur district, which has four Lok Sabha constituencies, is likely to have only three after the delimitation in the near future with Tenali constituency abolished. This was the impression at the second day's meeting of Delimitation Commission in New Delhi on Thursday. According to the ex-officio members from Guntur district, Ponnur Assembly segment, which is in Tenali would be attached to Bapatla LS seat, Chilakaluripet remains with Guntur LS seat, Tenali segment also comes into Guntur, while Yerragondapalem segment gets attached to Narsaraopet.
Declaration
This was the proposal given by Congress party and Telugu Desam did not counter it by submitting any written request. The draft proposals were likely to be declared within two or three days after taking into consideration the representations given by parties at this two-day meet. Now that Chebrolu Assembly constituency would not be created and Kuchinapudi gets merged with Repalle and Vemuru gets dissolved to become part of Bapatla and Tenali, the only aspect of interest for political parties is which Assembly constituencies would be reserved for the Scheduled Caste.
