This Day That Age
The Pakistan Foreign Minister, Mr. Feroz Khan Noon, told a press conference in Karachi on December 7 that one of the suggestions under consideration of his Government for a solution of the Kashmir issue was that Indian and Pakistani forces in Kashmir should be replaced by a UN force. He said that if the UN and India accepted this proposal, Pakistan was "willing" to agree to a "phased withdrawal" of her forces from the Pakistan-held Kashmir. Mr. Noon devoted most of his 90-minute press conference to Pakistan's relations with India and his country's membership of the Baghdad Pact. Pakistan, he claimed, had to depend on the collective strength of the Baghdad Pact powers for her defence "against India."
