NDA meet postponed

Special Correspondent

BJP for further discussions with the Speaker

  • Speaker rejects all charges of bias
  • `Refer Parliament records before making charges'

NEW DELHI: A National Democratic Alliance (NDA) meeting, scheduled for Friday, to review the decision of staying away from meetings called by Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee was postponed to Monday, as leaders of some parties were not here.

It seems that the Bharatiya Janata Party is keen to push a review of its decision to the end of the current session as far as possible, though on Thursday its leadership clearly indicated a "positive" outcome of its talks with the Speaker.

Announcing the postponement, BJP deputy leader in the House V.K. Malhotra said "further discussions" were needed with the Speaker to clarify certain matters.
