CHENNAI: Schwing Stetter India Pvt. Ltd., a 100 per cent subsidiary of Schwing Stetter GmbH, Germany, will inaugurate its Rs. 30-crore facility at the SIPCOT Industrial Park at Irungattukotai, near Chennai, on December 9. This facility, adjacent to its present manufacturing unit, will focus on manufacturing batching plants and components for concrete pumps for the domestic as well as export markets. Once fully operational, the plant will employ close to 250 people.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Anand Sundaresan, Managing Director, Schwing Stetter India Pvt. Ltd., said the new facility was spread over 10 acres and would come up on a two lakh-sq. ft. area. The new plant would have the same manufacturing system that was present in the Schwing Group's facilities globally. Major processes performed at the third plant would include bending, welding, surface preparation, painting, plastic and assembly operations.

Jochen Goerlich, Chairman, Schwing Stetter India, said the unit would soon notch up a turnover of Rs. 1,000 crore.
