PUDUKOTTAI: The presence of mind of a servant maid helped avert a daylight robbery at a residence in S. S. Nagar in the heart of the town on Friday. Police said a group of six persons allegedly barged in to the residence of M. S. Antonisamy, and threatened the women members to part with their jewellery. The culprits also reportedly tied the hands of the women inmates, including Sainambu (35), the servant maid. Even as Antonisamy and other inmates remained shocked, Sainambu acted quickly, untied the knots, rushed out of the house and raised an alarm, forcing the culprits to make good their escape by a four-wheeler. Police teams made a frantic search to locate the car and all stations were alerted. In a complaint lodged with the police, Antonisamy said the gang had earlier visited his house twice, under the guise of seeking jobs at his restaurant in Malaysia. The Ganesh Nagar police have registered a case and are investigating.
