CHENNAI: Executives from three nationalised banks spent their Sunday listening to tips on `How to make work worship and not warship' through meditation and other measures, and thus overcome work-related stress. The seminar on `Success in banking operations through spirituality', held at IMAGE auditorium on December 3, had more than 200 participants from Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank and the State Bank of India, the event's co-sponsors. Top-level executives listened to Ashaji of Brahma Kumaris speak on how to achieve `Leadership qualities through meditation'. The sessions that followed, organised by Brahma Kumaris, focussed on improving customer services, granting and recovering loans and advances, preventing frauds, and the importance of extending operations to rural areas. There were also sessions on how to manage time and not get bogged down by stress. According to Executive Director of Indian Bank Sundara Rajan, banking professionals have become like pressure cookers without safety valves, reiterating the need to let the steam out and thus lower stress levels. General Managers of Indian Overseas Bank K.E. Venugopal and R. Shankar, General Manager of the State Bank of India Ram Krishna Garg, and Chairman-Managing Director of Allahabad Bank R.L. Wadhwa spoke about how measures such as meditation could help fight stress.
