The system displays information about cancellation and refundable amount
CHENNAI : Chennai Divisional Railway Manager Man Singh on Friday inaugurated the Terminal Repeater System installed at all the counters of the Reservation office, Moore Market Complex, Chennai. The system enables passengers to verify whether details pertaining to train number, date of journey, from and to stations and class of travel, furnished by them in the reservation application forms are correctly fed into the system by counter clerks. In the event of any error, the passenger can immediately correct the same. The system also helps the passengers to know the status of reservation and the exact fare to be paid. The transactions carried out at the counter are made transparent, thereby reducing incidence of complaints pertaining to reservations. This system has a unique feature: displaying cancellation details and refundable amount. As an added feature, ticket printing information, which enables the passenger to know about the number of transactions dealt with at the counter, will also be displayed. Southern Railway has procured 58 systems at a cost of Rs.5 lakh and 30 systems have been installed at the Moore Market Reservation Complex. The rest will shortly be installed at Chennai Egmore and Mambalam. A sum of Rs.28 lakhs has been sanctioned for purchase of more systems for installation at all the computerised passenger reservation centres and booking offices over Chennai Division of Southern Railway, according to a railway press release.
