HYDERABAD: A health camp organised by the Doctors' Cell of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee marked the 61st birthday celebrations of AICC president Sonia Gandhi here on Saturday. Party workers thronged Gandhi Bhavan, the party headquarters, where APCC president K. Keshava Rao, Home Minister K. Jana Reddy and Information and Public Relations Minister Md. Ali Shabbir cut a cake brought by the cadre. In the camp over some 1,000 poor and aged patients were examined and given free medicines. A dental camp was also conducted for schoolchildren. The party distributed 500 spectacles to the needy patients. Addressing a press meet , Mr. Rao said the party and the nation would not forget the sacrifice made by Ms. Gandhi in rejecting the Prime Minister's post when the allies had expressed trust in her leadership. Mr. Jana Reddy said the UPA Government was functioning smoothly without any trouble because of the cordial relations maintained by Ms. Gandhi with the alliance partners.
