Release of interim relief instalment sought

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The State Government has shown no signs of finalising the fifth Pay Commission and thousands of Government employees are not getting their salary regularly, the Federation of State Government Employees Associations has alleged.

It demanded immediate release of the next instalment of interim relief.

Federation president U.D. Narasimhaiah told presspersons that it had demanded that the Bill to privatise pension services be withdrawn immediately.

Pension scheme

The move to convert the pension scheme into one where the employees too contributed should be dropped, he said.

The other demands of the employees include filling up all vacancies in the various departments through direct recruitment, and increase in retirement age to 60.

December 14 was being observed as "Pension Bachao Day" across the country, and it would be marked by strike and protests.

In Bangalore, the federation was planning to hold a dharna in front of Mahatma Gandhi's statue, he said.

Pay scale

Mr. Narasimhaiah said that another demand of the employees was that the difference in pay scale between Central and State Government employees should be eliminated. They want the pay scale of State Government employees be brought on a par with that of Central Government staff.

Privatisation

He criticised the "privatisation" of Government departments in the name of administrative reforms.

All employees should receive at least three increments during their service, Mr. Narasimhaiah added.
