HUBLI: Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj Horatti announced here that the appointment orders for 4,768 candidates for the post of primary schoolteacher would be sent to them within a week. Mr. Horatti told presspersons here on Saturday that the Finance Department had given its approval for the recruitment of 5,912 candidates as primary schoolteachers, and the process would begin shortly. Under the Sarva Shikshana Abhiyana, 2,300 candidates for the post of teacher would be appointed, and 12,980 candidates would be appointed for the post of primary schoolteacher, he said. The Minister said 5,984 candidates had already been recruited as teachers and the process of appointment of 458 candidates as teachers for pre-university colleges and 558 as high school headmasters had begun. Permission had been sought from the Finance Department for the appointment of candidates keeping in mind the requirements up till 2010, he added. He said Rs. 25 crore had been sanctioned for the repair of school buildings, from funds earmarked for the development of rural infrastructure.
