NEW DELHI: On the occasion of the 60th birth anniversary of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, a daylong heart and general medical check-up camp was organised at the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) headquarters at Rajiv Bhawan on Deen Dayal Upadhayaya Marg here on Saturday. Inaugurating the camp, All-India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said it had been the tradition of the Congress party to hold such functions marking important occasions for the welfare of the weaker sections of society. "It is a commendable effort on the part of the party workers to conduct a medical check-up camp on the occasion as such medical-check ups are beyond the reach of the masses," said Mr. Gehlot, who himself underwent a medical examination at the camp. "Ms. Sonia Gandhi has filled the party workers with inspiration to work for the betterment and welfare of the downtrodden and underprivileged and carry forward her vision and policies to the common man," said DPCC president Ram Babu Sharma, wishing Ms. Gandhi long and healthy life. Praising the leader for her political acumen and dynamic leadership, Mr. Sharma said holding together an alliance of over dozen political parties with different political agendas and viewpoint was no mean task.
