Diesel version of Zen Estilo coming

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: Maruti Udyog Limited will soon have a diesel version of its newly launched Zen Estilo.

However, the company has ruled out an LPG-fitted Zen Estilo coming out in the market in the near future.

"The diesel version of Zen Estilo can be expected in the current financial year itself," said MUL Chief General Manager (Marketing) Mayank Pareek here on the occasion of the launch of the sale of the new car in Rajasthan on Friday.

Zen Estilo, which replaces the popular Maruti Zen that was first launched in 1993, has been getting a good response after its national launch on Tuesday. "Brisk orders are coming. We have received over 10,000 orders for Estilo so far," Mr. Pareek said.

The new Zen is claimed to be roomier than its original version and is fitted with a bigger engine and offers convenience features such as power windows, power locks and also ABS and airbag in the top end variant.

The production of the first generation Zen -- of which 760,000 units have been sold -- was discontinued by the company eight months ago to make way for the new version.

"Zen was always loved for its looks and its jelly bean style caught the imagination of the youth at the time of its launch. This new version is a mix of style and comfort," Mr. Pareek said.
