CHENNAI: Think of bus termini in the city sporting marble flooring in place of the dusty, pot-holed bus bays, a small play area for children to while away time till their bus arrives and digital display boards showing the expected time of arrival and location of the bus. Moses, General Manager (Technical), Metropolitan Transport Corporation, participating in the bus stand greening programme held at Foreshore Estate Bus Terminus on Saturday, revealed that the State Government proposed to develop every bus terminus in the city with modern infrastructure to give the passengers a world-class experience. Mr. Moses said MTC had started operating new buses that conform to the latest pollution norms Bharat Stage III. V. Saravanan of the Girishwari Hospital Private Limited said planting saplings was a one-time investment where the benefits would be reaped by generations. Principal P.V. Madhavi of the Kumararani Meena Muthiah College of Arts and Science, wanted MTC officials to ensure that the saplings were nurtured well. Exnora Green Cross, a unit of Exnora International, in association with Blue Star, have undertaken the job of planting saplings at all bus termini in the city in phases. NSS volunteers of the Kumararani Meena Muthiah College of Arts and Science were felicitated at the function for helping in planting saplings.
