HYDERABAD A software professional S. Nataraj, who flew into the city from London a week ago, was found murdered in his apartment at the posh Kundanbagh locality here on Saturday. The victim had his throat slashed and there were some deep gashes on his wrists and on his back. Adding to the mystery was a blood soaked towel and two used condoms found on the terrace of the four-storeyed building on the St. Francis College lane. The victim was dressed only in his underwear. The police did not hazard any guess on the motive for the killing, but significantly, his purse containing credit cards and a high-end mobile phone were missing. The police theorise that the assailants could have been his acquaintances. The 23-year-old man, hailing from Kakinada, checked into Spring Haven on Thursday. The three-bed room apartments on each floor were let out on a sharing basis to working men and women. Nataraj, the police found, had rented a bedroom on fourth floor. The other two bedrooms in the flat were vacant. Nataraj is stated to have called in the housekeeping staff to repair a geyser. "When the mechanic repaired the geyser, the victim was sitting on a sofa in the verandah," West Zone DCP Amit Garg said. Some 30 minutes later, another housekeeper noticed bloodstains on the staircase and called the manager. While the flat's front door was ajar, Natraj's bedroom was locked from outside. Blood was splattered at the door.
Bloodstains
The manager broke open the doors and found Nataraj lying face down and the throat slit. Bloodstains suggested killers attacked him with knives while he was on the bed. Before fleeing, they washed the bloodstains in the bathroom. Natraj went to London two years ago and returned to the city possibly to join some software course.
