Staff Reporter

CHENNAI : A compact disc (CD) of Sri Mannargudi Sambasiva Bhagavathar's musical discourses and `sahithyams' was released at a function here on Sunday.

The sixth anniversary celebrations of Sri Mannargudi Sambasiva Bhagavathar Cultural Trust was inaugurated by Nalli Kuppusamy Chettiar in which senior musicians Vilangudi Venkataraman and Madras Brothers S Raghu and S Ravi were honoured with the title `Gana Kala Siromani'. V Sundaram, Associate Editor, News Today and Maalai Sudar, said Sambasiva Bhagavathar was not only a great Harikatha exponent, but a well known composer. His discourses, which were vibrant, reached well amidst the audience.

He also commended the efforts of Sambasiva Bhagavathar in establishing a Vidwath samajam here, which is used by many elders to render the great Saint Thyagaraja keerthanai during the festival period.

Earlier, S Rajaraman welcomed the gathering. S Madhavan proposed vote of thanks.
