Chennai: Twenty-one students of the Hindustan Institute of Engineering Technology's Aircraft Maintenance Engineering stream have been recruited by Singapore International Airlines. They will be absorbed in their Technician Trainee Program and on successful completion, will be placed on the company's rolls and placed in any part of the world as required by the organisation. Another ten have been short-listed and subject to the requirements, they will be drafted into the company's program in accordance with established norms and procedures. According to Anand Jacob Verghese, Director, Hindustan Group of Institutions, the recruitment was a milestone in the careers of the selected students. "The SIA is renowned the world over for its engineering and maintenance prowess and for the students to be trained right after their academic completion is the best foundation they can ask for." In the selection process, the starting point was the academic performance, which was then compounded with the results of an aptitude test the students took. Group discussions and individual interviews followed before the final selection.
